Services · Travelling with your pet
Bring your dog or cat to Türkiye — and through the border without a surprise.
The rules are short, but one of them can take three months. We check what applies to you before you book anything, then arrange the flight, a hotel that genuinely welcomes pets, and a car that will take the carrier.
What Türkiye asks for
Four documents, one chip, and a two-pet limit.
This is what the Turkish veterinary border offices and consulates publish for pets travelling with their owner. Each animal needs its own set of papers, originals in hand.
Microchip first
ISO 11784/11785 chip, readable at the border. It must be implanted before the rabies vaccine — a vaccine dated before the chip does not count.
Rabies vaccine
An inactivated or recombinant vaccine, recorded in the passport or certificate. Live vaccines are not accepted. Leave at least a few weeks before travel.
Health certificate
Issued and stamped by the official veterinary service of your country, within the 48 hours before arrival. Carry the pet passport with it.
Rabies titre test — maybe
Some official notices require a blood test showing at least 0.5 IU/ml, done in an EU-approved laboratory. Others do not mention it. We confirm which applies to your country before you plan dates.
Two pets per passenger
Up to two cats, dogs or birds per traveller (or ten aquarium fish). More than that is treated differently — tell us and we will check the route.
Breeds not admitted
Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Brasileiro, and their crosses, cannot be brought into Türkiye.
The rule people find out too late
If the titre test applies, start three months ahead.
The blood sample is taken at least 30 days after the rabies vaccine, and the pet may enter at the earliest three months after that sample. Results themselves take several weeks. This is the official example from the Turkish border veterinary office:
- 1 AprilRabies vaccine (after the microchip).
- 1 MayBlood sample for the titre test, sent to an EU-approved laboratory.
- 1 AugustEarliest entry into Türkiye.
Write to us before you buy the ticket. Tell us the country you are flying from, the date of the last rabies vaccine and whether a titre test was ever done. We check the current rule for that route and send you a dated checklist — so nothing depends on what a website said last year.

رحلات جوية
Pet added to the booking at the same time as your ticket — cabin places are limited per flight. On the main Turkish carriers the cabin limit is usually 8 kg including the carrier; larger dogs need a cargo option, which not every airline offers.
Hotels that say yes
"Pet friendly" on a booking site often means "small dogs, one night, extra fee". We phone the hotel and ask: which animals, what weight, what fee, can the pet stay alone in the room, is there somewhere to walk.
Transfers that take the carrier
A driver who has agreed in advance to carry an animal, room for the crate, and stops planned on longer drives. No discussion at the kerb.
Flat-faced breeds — Pugs, French and English Bulldogs, Persian cats — have a higher risk of breathing problems in flight, and some airlines will not take them in the hold. Talk to your vet first; we will tell the airline the breed when we book.
Going home again
Plan the way back on the same day you plan the way in.
- Exit certificateLeaving Türkiye, the pet needs a health certificate from the provincial veterinary directorate, usually within the last 48 hours. We help you book it.
- Returning to the EU or UKTürkiye is not on the EU's rabies-free list, so a valid titre test is needed to re-enter. If the test is done before you leave home, there is no three-month wait on the way back.
- Dogs to the UKTapeworm treatment by a vet one to five days before arrival, recorded in the passport.
- Dogs to the USAThe CDC lists Türkiye as high-risk for dog rabies: extra forms, a CDC-approved titre test and arrival at specific airports apply.
أسئلة
قبل أن تكتب
Can my pet fly in the cabin with me?
Usually yes if the pet and carrier together are within the airline's limit — commonly 8 kg on Turkish carriers. Places are limited per flight, so the pet is booked together with your ticket. Over the limit, we look at cargo options.
My puppy or kitten is very young. Can it come?
Animals under three months and unvaccinated are admitted only under special conditions set by the Ministry, depending on the country of origin. Tell us the age and we will check.
Do you guarantee the rules?
No one can — they change, and offices interpret them. What we do is check the current rule for your route before you book, in writing, and tell you the date it was checked. Your own vet confirms the medical side.
What if my pet needs a vet in Türkiye?
Write to us at any hour. We help you find a veterinary clinic near where you are staying and arrange the transfer.
How early should I contact you?
As soon as you know the dates — and at least three to four months ahead if a titre test may be needed. For pets that already have a valid titre result, a few weeks is usually enough.

Tell us about your pet and your dates.
Species, breed, weight, the country you fly from and the date of the last rabies vaccine — that is enough to send you a dated checklist and a quote.
