The old e-visa requirement was removed. Your passport should have at least 150 days' validity from the date of entry \u2014 this catches people out more often than the visa rule ever did.<\/td><\/tr>\n        <tr><th>Flight time<\/th><td>London 4h 00 \u00b7 Birmingham 4h 05 \u00b7 Manchester 4h 15 \u00b7 Edinburgh 4h 20 \u00b7 Glasgow 4h 20 to \u0130stanbul.<\/td><\/tr>\n        <tr><th>Direct flights from<\/th><td>Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Newcastle \u2014 to \u0130stanbul, Antalya, Dalaman, Bodrum and \u0130zmir.<\/td><\/tr>\n        <tr><th>Time difference<\/th><td>T\u00fcrkiye is <b>2 hours ahead<\/b> of the UK in summer, <b>3 hours ahead<\/b> in winter. T\u00fcrkiye does not put its clocks back.<\/td><\/tr>\n        <tr><th>Currency<\/th><td>Turkish lira (TRY). Sterling goes a long way here. Cards work almost everywhere in cities \u2014 change cash in T\u00fcrkiye, never at a UK airport.<\/td><\/tr>\n        <tr><th>Plug and voltage<\/th><td>European two-pin, 230V. Your UK plugs will not fit. Bring an adapter or ask us to leave one at your hotel.<\/td><\/tr>\n        <tr><th>Best months<\/th><td><b>April\u2013May<\/b> and <b>September\u2013October<\/b> for \u0130stanbul and the ruins. <b>June\u2013September<\/b> for the Turquoise Coast. Read that again.<\/h2>\n    <p class=\"lead\">This is the single most expensive misunderstanding British visitors make.\n       We are not insurance advisers \u2014 but you should know this before you fly, not after.<\/p>\n\n    <div class=\"g3\">\n      <div class=\"card\">\n        <div class=\"ico\">\u26a0\ufe0f<\/div>\n        <h3>GHIC and EHIC<\/h3>\n        <p>T\u00fcrkiye is not in the EU or the EEA, so the Global Health Insurance Card gives you\n           <b>no cover here at all<\/b>. It is not partial cover. It is none.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"card\">\n        <div class=\"ico\">\ud83c\udfe5<\/div>\n        <h3>The NHS abroad<\/h3>\n        <p>The NHS does not pay for treatment outside the UK, and will not pay to fly you home.\n           Air ambulance repatriation from T\u00fcrkiye runs into tens of thousands of pounds.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"card\">\n        <div class=\"ico\">\u2705<\/div>\n        <h3>What you need<\/h3>\n        <p>Proper travel insurance with medical cover and repatriation. Declare pre-existing\n           conditions honestly \u2014 an undeclared condition is the usual reason claims are refused.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"note\">\n      <p><b>If you are coming for treatment,<\/b> travel insurance will not cover a planned\n         procedure either. Rules can change, so we\n         confirm the current requirement for your specific passport before anything is booked.<\/p>\n    <\/details>\n    <details>\n      <summary>Is my UK driving licence valid?<\/summary>\n      <p>Yes for short visits. Driving on the coast is fine and pleasant; driving in \u0130stanbul is\n         not, and most of our British guests take a driver instead.<\/p>\n    <\/details>\n    <details>\n      <summary>Will my phone work?<\/summary>\n      <p>T\u00fcrkiye is outside EU roaming arrangements, so check your tariff before you land \u2014\n         some UK networks charge a daily rate here. A Turkish SIM is cheap; we can arrange one.<\/p>\n    <\/details>\n    <details>\n      <summary>Can I drink tap water?<\/summary>\n      <p>It is chlorinated and safe to brush your teeth with, but almost nobody drinks it,\n         including locals. Bottled water is inexpensive and everywhere.<\/p>\n    <\/details>\n    <details>\n      <summary>How much should I tip?<\/summary>\n      <p>Around 10% in restaurants, rounding up for taxis. Not expected in caf\u00e9s.
