Visitors from Europe come to Türkiye for sun. You have plenty of sun. What Türkiye has that the Gulf does not is altitude, forest, rain and cool evenings — which is why the Black Sea has become the summer destination for Gulf families.
Uzungöl & Trabzon
Lake, pine forest and mist. Cool enough for a jacket in August. The classic Gulf family trip.
Ayder & Rize
Highland plateaus, waterfalls and tea gardens. Quieter, greener, and worth the extra drive.
Yalova & Bursa
Thermal springs, mountains and İstanbul an hour away. Popular for shorter stays.
İstanbul
Shopping, restaurants and the Bosphorus — usually combined with a few days elsewhere.

Book earlier than you think. July and August in Trabzon and Uzungöl are the busiest weeks of the Turkish tourism year for Gulf visitors. Good villas and Arabic-speaking guides are gone by spring. If you are reading this in winter, that is the right time to write.

Before you write
Is the Black Sea really cool in August?
Yes. Uzungöl sits at altitude and daytime temperatures are usually in the low twenties, with genuinely cold evenings. Bring a jacket — Gulf visitors regularly do not, and regret it.
Can we travel as a large family group?
That is most of what we do in summer. Tell us the number of adults, children and their ages and we plan vehicles, rooms and meal timings around it from the start.
Do we need travel insurance?
Yes. It is inexpensive and should include medical cover and repatriation. We are not insurance brokers and will not sell you one — but do not travel without it.
Can you arrange treatment as well?
