Health cover
What your German insurance does — and does not — cover.
This is the question we get asked most, and the one most travel sites skip. We are not insurance advisers, so treat this as a checklist to take to your Krankenkasse, not as advice.
Emergency treatment
There is a German–Turkish social security agreement. Ask your Krankenkasse about the certificate for temporary stays (often referred to as form A/T 11) before you fly. It applies to acute, unplanned treatment only.
Planned treatment
If you are coming for a procedure, statutory insurance will normally not cover it. Assume you are paying privately unless your insurer confirms otherwise in writing.
Travel insurance
An Auslandskrankenversicherung costs very little and covers what the agreement does not — including repatriation. Worth it for a week's holiday, essential for a longer stay.
Do this before you fly: call your Krankenkasse, say you are travelling to Türkiye on holiday, and ask exactly what you are covered for and what document you need to carry. Five minutes on the phone in Germany saves a very bad afternoon in a Turkish hospital.

What a week actually costs
Rough per-person guidance for a week, excluding flights, so you can sanity-check any quote you receive — from us or from anyone else.

- SimpleClean 3-star or apartment, public transport, eating where locals eat. Türkiye is very good at this level.
- Premium5-star on the Bosphorus, private guide and driver throughout, fine dining.
- The real variableNot the hotel — it is how much you travel between cities. Two cities in a week doubles the logistics.
On exchange rates: the lira moves, so prices in euro terms change through the year. We quote you a fixed total in euro and carry that risk ourselves — you pay what the quote says.

Before you write
Do I need a visa?
Not as a German citizen for tourist stays up to 90 days. If you hold a different passport while living in Germany, the rule may be different — send us your passport country and we confirm the current requirement before anything is booked.
Is my German driving licence valid?
Yes, for short visits. Whether you should drive in İstanbul is a separate question — most of our German guests take a driver and are glad they did.
Will my phone work?
Türkiye is outside the EU, so EU roaming does not apply and German roaming charges can be steep. Check your tariff, or buy a Turkish SIM on arrival — we can arrange it.
Can everything be handled in German?
Yes. German-speaking guides, drivers and interpreters are arranged on request, including for hospital appointments. Say so when you write and we plan for it from the start.
Is it safe?
The cities visitors go to are as safe as major German cities, with the same ordinary precautions. For current official guidance, check the Auswärtiges Amt travel advice — we would rather you read the government source than take our word for it.
