The visa — read this first
Do not book flights before the visa is settled.
This is the single most expensive mistake we see. People buy a non-refundable ticket, then discover the visa takes longer than they thought, and lose the fare.
e-Visa, if you qualify
Available online in some circumstances — often linked to holding a valid visa or residence permit from certain other countries. Fast when it applies.
Consulate application
Otherwise a sticker visa from a Turkish consulate in Iraq. This takes longer and requires documents — allow weeks, not days.
What we can do
We are a travel agency, not a visa office. We will tell you honestly which route appears to apply to you, and we will not take a booking that depends on a visa you do not yet hold.
Rules change, and only the authorities decide. Anything on this page is general guidance. Send us your passport details and travel purpose and we will confirm the current requirement in writing before anything is paid for. If someone promises you a guaranteed visa, walk away.
Money
Plan for cash. Genuinely.
Iraqi bank cards frequently do not work outside Iraq, and dinar is not exchangeable here in any practical way. This shapes the whole trip.

Questions
Before you write
How long does the visa take?
It depends entirely on which route applies to you and on the consulate's workload. Assume it will take longer than you hope, and start early. We will not encourage you to book flights until it is resolved.
Should I fly or take the bus?
Fly, unless you are going only as far as the southeast. The road journey from Baghdad or Erbil to İstanbul is very long, and the border can be slow.
Will Arabic or Kurdish be enough?
In İstanbul's Fatih and Aksaray districts and in private hospitals, largely yes. Elsewhere, less so. For anything that matters — a hospital appointment, a contract — we arrange a proper interpreter.
Is halal food easy to find?
It is the norm here, not a special request. We still confirm it with each hotel and restaurant, and note mosques along your route.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, and it should cover medical treatment and repatriation. Given that paying a hospital bill by card may not be an option for you, being uninsured here carries more risk than it does for most visitors.
